Composition (in-person or virtual)

In addition to teaching violin, I also offer lessons in music composition. In composition classes, students are introduced to a variety of styles of music ranging from orchestral to pop, jazz, and other genres. Music composition is an incredibly valuable tool to any musician and great creative outlet for those who love to create. Learning the fundamentals of theory and how instruments work, and work together (orchestration) is an essential part of finding your 'voice' as a writer. Whether it's writing for a 60 piece orchestra, or producing modern pop hits. Here's what I teach.

  • Theory in modern classical, pop, and jazz styles

  • Orchestration and writing for live instruments

  • Arranging and harmony

  • How to look for work as a composer

  • How to write for film and television
